Julie Heather Liew, MA*

Julie Heather Liew, MA, holds a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore, following eight years of experience in creative work for film and television projects, including music videos, feature films and commercials.

The high-output, performance-driven professional environment of filmmaking revealed the industry's deprioritisation of employees' mental health and frequency of burnout amongst young professionals. This motivated Julie to pursue art therapy in an effort to use her creativity in the service of caring for and supporting others.

With her background in Fine Art and Art History, Julie's artistic and therapeutic practice is informed by her proficiency in a wide range of art-based media, traditional or contemporary/digital. She believes that creativity comes naturally to us at all ages, and reconnecting our emotional and creative selves are key to our physical, mental and emotional well-being, especially when words fall short.
In her free time, she still enjoys creating -- she can be found cosplaying as her favourite characters at pop culture conventions, or playing Tabletop Role-playing Games (TTRPGs) like Dungeons & Dragons with close friends. She also takes commissions for digital & traditional illustrations on Instagram around certain holidays, or for small businesses and weddings.

* She is currently awaiting convocation in August 2025 and application to receive accreditation from the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA), having successfully completed the programme to become a qualified art therapist (Goldsmith's College University of London Master's Degree in Art Therapy, awarded by LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore).
